An Egyptian living in Europe but her heart stayed back home. Having some random thoughts about the before and after pictures. Ghawayesh means bracelets. In my context it symbolizes the cuffs of my culture. I don't know if I like them or hate them. Thanks for passing by.

I started this blog in 2006 as a joke. Now that I look back, I have decided to take it seriously!

Third Time's the Charm! (My Current Work of Art.. Part 7!)

SoooO00oO0o! I get to try again with the man-in-a-black-suit canvas, so I went for Akhenaten.. Who happens to look a lot like Obama (ha!), so as I was busy through it.. I got this:

TheeEEeen I got very frustrated with the amount of ugliness I had just produced.

I felt rusty!

So I decided to paint rust!

But to give it some hope, I decided to believe that if you scratch the rust, you might find a treasure.. Like King Akhenaten..

Or even better; the man in the black suit. XD

So here you go, my latest baby, and I call it: "Scratch the Rust"!!! :D

2012.. Resolutions to Revolutions..

This, is going to be my year.

More than ever, I'm getting to know myself better.

For one, I can't stand medicine- and I still love education.

For two, I love art and creation.

For three.. I am going to conjoin those two in one project.

And I'm feeling good.

Goodbye negative energy, negative people, and welcome adventure.

Speechless but I'll try..

I spent the whole afternoon in a massive art exhibition. I'm too stunned to write. Too many impressions. But this one is what hit me the most.

First, you have to know about the famous painting: Der Arme Poet.

And today I saw this genius imitation, and I am so in love with it I am feeling sick without it! This is not the complete painting but it's the only picture I could find online.

Die arme Poetin!

How to Eff Up A Painting in 3 Steps

1- Paint something baring.. Like a naked patootey, and call it something daring, like He's in Black Suit. Make sure to spend a lot of time and effort in the details.

2- Suddenly get overconfident and daring and mix a skin color that should make the body looking like an X-files corpse.

3- Get very angry at the mess you'd made and show it by painting angry strokes all over.

Tip: Try to get over the man in a black suit by painting Akhenaten over it. Pending.

Aretha Franklin is off the Market, Dudes!

At 70, finally her prayers were answered. Congrats! Wishing it upon all the women in love! xx

The moment I wake up
Before I put on my makeup
I say a little pray for you
While combing my hair now,
And wondering what dress to wear now,
I say a little prayer for you

Forever, and ever, you'll stay in my heart
and I will love you
Forever, and ever, we never will part
Oh, how I love you
Together, forever, that's how it must be
To live without you
Would only mean heartbreak for me.

I run for the bus, dear,
While riding I think of us, dear,
I say a little prayer for you.
At work I just take time
And all through my coffee break-time,
I say a little prayer for you.
Forever, and ever, you'll stay in my heart
and I will love you
Forever, and ever we never will part
Oh, how I'll love you
Together, forever, that's how it must be
To live without you
Would only mean heartbreak for me.

I say a little prayer for you

I say a little prayer for you

My darling believe me, (believe me)
For me there is no one but you!
Please love me too
And I'm in love with you
Answer my prayer now babe

Forever, and ever, you'll stay in my heart
and I will love you
Forever, and ever we never will part
Oh, how I'll love you
Together, forever, that's how it must be
To live without you
Would only mean heartbreak for me (oooooooooh)

El Atlal الأطلال The Ruins By Um Kulthum

Um Kulthum is our Edith Piaf. This video is of her concert in Kuwait. That's where I was born. ♡

My heart, don't ask where the love has gone
It was a citadel of my imagination that has collapsed
Water me and let me drink of its ruins
And tell the story on my behalf as long as the tears flow
Tell how that love became past news
And became a matter of the subject of pain
I haven't forgotten you
And you seduced me with a sweetly-calling and tender tongue
And a hand extending towards me like a hand stretched out through the waves to a drowning person
And a light searching for a wanderer
But where is that light in your eyes?
My darling, I visited your nest one day as a bird of desire singing my pain
You've become self-important, spoiled and capricious
And you inflict harm like a powerful tyrant
And my longing for you cauterized my ribs (soul or insides)
And the moments were embers in my blood
Give me my freedom, release my hands
Indeed, I've given you yours and did not try to retain anything
Ah, your chains have bloodied my wrists
Why are they still there when I no longer affect you
Why do I keep promises that you do not honor?
I've had it with this prison now that the world is mine
He is far away, my enchanting love
Full of pride, majesty and delicacy
Sure-footed walking like a king with oppressive beauty and rapacious glory
Redolent of charm like the breeze of the valleys
Pleasant to experience like the night's dreams
I've lost forever the charm of your company that radiated brilliantly
I, wandering in love, a bewildered butterfly, approached you
And between us, desire was a messenger and drinking companion that presented the cup to us
Had love seen two as intoxicated as us?
So much hope we had built up around us
And we walked in the moonlit path, joy skipping along ahead of us
And we laughed like two children together
And we ran and raced our shadows
And we became aware after the euphoria and woke up
If only we did not awaken
Wakefulness ruined the dreams of slumber
The night came and the night became my only friend
And then the light was an omen of the sunrise and the dawn was towering over like a conflagration
And then the world was as we know it, with each lover in their own path
Oh sleepless one who slumbers and remembers the promise when you wake up
Know that if a wound begins to recover another wound crops up with the memory
So learn to forget and learn to erase it
My darling everything is fated
It is not by our hands that we make our misfortune
Perhaps one day our fates will cross when our desire to meet is strong enough
For if one friend denies the other and we meet as strangers
And if each of us follows his or her own way
Don't say it was by our own will
But rather, the will of fate

Movie Nostalgia - 1

Watch a beautiful appearance for Dalida singing Desiderio di un'ora, in the movie Segara w Kaas (A Cigarette and A Glass).

There is this golden moment when Samia Gamal is in the same frame with Dalida at 2:25, and Samia Gamal is not the one who's dancing. This is a rare frame in the history of Egyptian cinema, and shows a lot of confidence from Samia Gamal.
